Beta: The beta goes offline shortly before the stress test and should return shortly after. October 21 is the last full day of beta testing. Launch is November 4, 2026.
Blizzard's announcement does not say what level cap or content the stress test will have. The checklists below start with changes to abilities and racials you have from the early levels, and list talent or higher-level changes last under Needs levels.
What everyone should test
- Wands and Auto Shot need you to stand still. Both require 0.5 sec of standing still before shooting (Oct 15). Check that it feels right while kiting or repositioning.
- Racials changed for every race (Oct 15), and most work at level 1. See your race's checklist below, or the racial changes page.
- Crowded starting zones are the point of a stress test. Beta notes changed respawn rates in Elwynn Forest, Durotar, Mulgore, Teldrassil and other zones (Sep 24 and later), and Rend and Sunder Armor now tag enemies instantly for Warriors. Check that quest mobs and objects keep up with a full server.
- Party and world-instance behavior: an earlier known issue said that creating or changing a party could move players to a different world instance, and Oct 1 notes say party leaders should no longer be transferred. Try grouping with friends.
- Campfires (Sep 24): you can buff, cast and craft while waiting for the Campfire buff, and you can get it while sitting, lying down or kneeling. Campfires no longer damage players below level 5 (Oct 1).
What to test for your class
Warrior
- Rage on crits: basic-attack crits should generate 100% more Rage (Oct 1). Gearing Stamina should no longer reduce Rage gained (Oct 8 fix).
- Tagging: Rend and Sunder Armor tag enemies instantly (Oct 1), which helps in packed zones.
- Threat: Sunder Armor threat corrected (Sep 24). Demoralizing Shout now generates threat (Oct 8).
- Needs levels: Fury talents (Lingering Rage, Furious Precision, Gore Drinker), and Slam's 18 sec cooldown with Improved Slam.
Paladin
- Seal of Righteousness and Judgement of Righteousness: spell-damage coefficients were corrected on Oct 15 (Seal of Righteousness was getting almost double benefit). Compare your damage numbers.
- Righteous Fury: Holy threat is back to 90% (Oct 15).
- Retribution Aura: now uses your spell power, with Vanilla base damage (Oct 8).
- Needs levels: Holy Strike changes, Reckoning charges (up to 4), Salvation/Mass Salvation and Revoke.
Hunter
- Auto Shot: needs 0.5 sec standing still (Oct 15). Try the new Auto Attack/Auto Shot setting that switches between them automatically.
- Taming: Tame Beast no longer works on beasts above your level (Sep 24). Pet Aggressive Mode is back in the pet tab (Oct 1).
- Traps: you can have 1 fire trap and 1 ice trap active at once, and fire traps scale with Attack Power (Oct 15).
- Needs levels: Strider Kick, Sniper Shot, and pet family abilities (Dismember, Sonic Blast, Mine!).
Rogue
- Sap: flags you for PvP when used on a PvP-flagged target (Sep 24) and no longer procs weapon effects (Oct 15).
- Combo points: a missed Expose Armor should not cost your combo points (Oct 1).
- Poisons: should no longer trigger against targets that are attacking you (Oct 15).
- Needs levels: Setup, Cold Blood with Mutilate.
Priest
- Power Word: Shield: can overwrite another Power Word: Shield on a target without Weakened Soul (Sep 24). It now tells you when yours is weaker, and no longer shows SHIELDED twice (Oct 15).
- Renew: can crit (Sep 24). High ranks no longer block other Priests' Renew (Oct 15).
- Low ranks: Smite, Lesser Heal and Heal were smoothed so new ranks are always upgrades (Oct 8).
- Race-specific Priest spells: Gnome, Night Elf and Undead spells had fixes on Sep 24.
- Needs levels: Shadow cooldown changes (Devouring Plague, Shadow Word: Death, Vampiric Embrace), Penance.
Shaman
- Lightning Bolt: low ranks were smoothed (Oct 8) and ranks 3–4 buffed (Sep 24). Check that each new rank hits harder.
- Totem stacking: Flametongue Totem no longer has a duration and doesn't stack with Windfury Totem. Grace of Air is no longer exclusive with them, and the main totems are raid-wide (Sep 24, Oct 15). Test in groups with other Shamans.
- Totemic Recall restores Mana (Oct 1).
- Needs levels: the Elemental tree reshuffle (Elemental Mastery, Lava Burst rank 4), Stormstrike cost, Water Shield.
Mage
- Arcane Missiles: line of sight is checked only once at the start of the channel (Sep 24).
- Low ranks: Fireball, Frostbolt and Arcane Missiles were smoothed so new ranks are always upgrades (Oct 8).
- Needs levels: Frost Blast (learned at 24), redesigned Arcane Blast, Clearcasting fixes, Winter's Chill and Cone of Cold changes, Fire talents.
Warlock
- Pets: your current pet is stunned while you summon a new one (Oct 8). Pet Aggressive Mode is back (Oct 1).
- Shadow Bolt: low ranks smoothed (Oct 8).
- Life Tap: tooltip shows the correct amount converted (Sep 24).
- Needs levels: Hellfire crits, Grim Reach, Destructive Reach, Shadow Mastery, Soul Link.
Druid
- Wrath: base damage up about 50% (Sep 24), and low ranks smoothed (Oct 8).
- Healing crits: Rejuvenation can crit (Sep 24). High ranks no longer block other Druids' Rejuvenation (Oct 15).
- Thorns: returned to Vanilla base damage with a 6% spell-power ratio (Oct 8).
- Needs levels: Bear threat and Rage changes, Faerie Fire threat in bear, Shred at 20, Shifting Power, Moonkin Aura and Leader of the Pack.
What to test for your race
- Tauren: Endurance gives 2% crit damage and healing. Plainsrunning adds 3% mounted speed but needs real movement. War Stomp has a 90 sec cooldown.
- Dwarf: Earth Fury replaces Mace Specialization. Find Treasure can find extra chest items.
- Skyborne: Wind Blessed gives 3% haste. Skysight and Read Leyline can be cast while moving. Walk on Air has a 90 sec cooldown.
- Human: Ruthless (2% crit) replaces Sword Specialization.
- Orc: Savage (1% crit) replaces Axe Specialization. Blood Fury has a 3 min cooldown. Shatter Curse dispels Curses and Banes.
- Undead: Touch of the Grave and Touch of the Dead are more consistent.
- Gnome: Eureka! is an 8 sec buff that also benefits Power Word: Shield.
- Night Elf: Quickness stacks with other speed bonuses.
- Troll: Regeneration is 20%.
- All from the Oct 15 notes. Some race labels are marked uncertain on this site because of Blizzard's list formatting.
